The Internet's Contribution to the Digital Economy

I read an interesting article today that was posted on the Official Google Australia Blog regarding a report completed by Deloitte and commisioned by google into the value of the internet on Australia's economy and wanted to share it here as the first post of this blog.

The report states that "The direct contribution of the internet to the Australian economy is worth approximately $50 billion or 3.6% of Australia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2010." Considering the current amount of talk and dicussion within australia politics at the moment, it would be worthwhile all australian making themselves aware of the part the internet plays in Australia's economy.

I'm still making my way through the report which can be accessed here along with a summary of the information which can be found by visiting www.connectedcontinent.com.au.
